This storyline was inspired by countless other live-action, animated, and comic stories in which the characters wind up undergoing some form of transformation and being forced to cope with the situation - usually quite badly.
Most often it's a human character being transformed into something decidedly unhuman, but in Mynarski Forest's case, the scenario has been reversed.
Trying to depict the transformation itself with a single panel in a manner that made it clear to the reader what had happened presented an interesting challenge, as well as drawing Skippy and Liska's naked human forms such that they didn't blow the strip's PG rating. :)
