Finch really isn't that far off the mark here; it basically is the same thing... At least when Liska is concerned... :)
This is pretty much the first strip where Skippy actually begins to question his feelings for Liska. He should be forgiven for being a bit confused, since as I've noted before, the evolution of their relationship was a complex process for their creator as well...
As I've mentioned earlier, I was aware of the possibilities involving a romance between the two from the very start, however their friendship and conflicts began to assume a deeper, almost sibling type dynamic as the characters develloped.
It all combined to make the whole relationship more complex and ambiguous for both Skippy and Liska, the characters other around them, and the readers themselves, opening up a lot of storytelling opportunities.
