As I mentioned in a previous commentary, one of the earliest running jokes I cooked up for the comic was Liska's persistent raids on Farmer Fred's henhouse and how they force her and Skippy to occassionally butt heads with Mitties.
I knew from the very start that I wanted the two antagonist parties to actually be friends, partly because it would be an unusual setup, and partly because it would allow for a more personal, nuanced conflict; it's both funnier and more complex when friends fight.
This particular strip sums up the whole scenario in a nutshell... It also points out the fundamental difference between the relationship Liska enjoys with Skippy and the one she has with Mitties...
