In addition to the F/X television series, Liska's idea really was inspired by the time she got shot by Hunter Hank, which was in turn inspired by the death of Sharpears in The Cunning Little Vixen. It's a good example of how ideas can sometimes serendipidously pile up one after another and take you some place you didn't expect to end up.
This actually was one of Liska's cleverer schemes, and it probably would have been a good idea if not for the fact that I never let things work out for these two. :)
